News sources, official sources, technical feeds and databases

Cyber Report distinguishes four lanes; each plays a different role.

Publications and reporters. They surface new incidents quickly and provide narrative context, but a news report is one outlet’s account — speed comes before completeness.

Vendor advisories, government agencies (for example CISA) and coordination centers. These carry authority for the affected product and are the reference for affected versions and fixes, but they describe the vendor’s own scope.

Research organizations and threat intelligence teams. They provide the deepest technical detail — indicators, attack chains, root causes — and are the main input for understanding how an attack actually works.

CVE, NVD, CVSS scoring and EPSS probability, and the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. These give every vulnerability a canonical identity and standardized measurements.

A single story often draws on several lanes; the Sources list on every story shows exactly which document supported which claim.
